Title
The Play's The Thing

Author
Colin Ward

Currently reading Theatre and Performance Studies at the University of Warwick, about to enter his second year in October 2001. He has a strong interest in teaching, and has plenty of experience. This is the writer's second play, and it differs greatly from his first two-act play. He is greatly influenced by the ideas of story-telling, character, myth and magic. Although his theatrical experience on stage is severely limited, he already has strong views about the theatre he loves and theatre he wants to teach.

Synopsis
A story adaption of Hamlet, written as a loose analogy of Shakespeare's play. Hammond (the supposed "Tragic Hero") is banished from his home land and goes to search for an old friend. He is persued by a character sent by The Great One (an allusion to the writer) who's job it is to set Hammond straight. With a plot-twist or two, Hammond battles against the fate that is written down for the tragic hero - to die. View extract.
