Synopsis
Invincible Glory follows the fortunes -and misfortunes - of a successful and sophisticated young man. Percy is an Army Officer. He comes from very high traditions. His career and prospects recall his great antecedents. He is on the brink of phenomenal success.

Percy attends his friend’s birthday party. It is a glorious evening with abundant drinks and beautiful people. Percy meets someone from outside his world. After the celebrations, guests return to their respective lives.

A year later, Percy is confronted by the person he met at the party. He is presented with the evidence of his night of casual passion - a baby boy. Charges are made against him. He is considered to have put the Army into disrepute. Seven hundred years of his family’s military glory are about to end in ignominy.

Percy is completely out of his depth. He tries to wriggle his way out of the unpleasant situation by charm and hauteur, but fails. He tries bluff and threats, and fails too.

Percy is suddenly surprised by his own reaction to the baby, whose paternity he had tried to deny. He finds that the baby strikes a chord deep within him. Events take an unexpected turn as he now wants custody of his son, while the boy’s mother is determined to keep her son.

The play unfolds against a background of high spirits and tradition, wit and passion, meanness and manipulation. View extract.
