Born on a farm outside Cardiff London playwright Oliver has been producing poetry, plays and novels for half a century, for most of which he has also pursued a variety of careers. His education was 'finished' in Switzerland where he captained the school championship ice hockey team. With 'The Sounds Of Stillness' Olly was one of four winners in the 1999 International Playwriting Competition held by the Warehouse Theatre Croydon. He is now working on a sequel telling the story of Aimee and Gawler after they leave Lady Aliceville for the coast.

Synopsis
Two drovers, Roper, tough middle aged, and Gawler, a twenty year old, stumble upon a ghost gold mining town, deserted but for one family of three generations, headed by patriarchal Adam. The tension between the drovers and the family centres around the herd of rare cattle, which Roper sees as the source of a fortune and the mute teenage grand-daughter, Aimee who has a profound affect on Gawler, causing him to fall out with Roper over his plan to take the cattle. Aimee is crucial to the plan, as only she has influence over the bull leading the herd, believed by the family to be host to the soul of her dead father.

Roper attempts to drive the cattle off alone, in the process firing the town. Aimee's mother is trampled to death by the stampeding herd, which runs straight over a precipice and is lost, possibly followed by Roper. These events make Adam realise that Lady Aliceville is no place for Aimee and he gives Gawler a fortune in pearls to take Aimee to civilisation, to live a proper life, while he and his wife, Eva live out their few remaining years in what remains of the town.
