Title
Time and Time Again

Author
Frank Bramwell

Synopsis
What if Shakespeare came back to life - what kind of play would he write to explain his former life and the effect it has had during the intervening centuries? How would he himself view the whole thing?

This play is a fantasy of another time, perhaps even our time. This is Shakespeare's struggle with his inner self and with life as it was lived around him. Shakespeare's under pressure to write, and at night there are things afoot - the characters of his Plays. His tortured soul takes part in their procession through time, and through this he resolves the dilemmas and tensions that underpin his dramatic genius.

As the night wears on, Shakespeare's initial discomfort at his agitated mental state gives way to a determined purpose. Having gone through the mental mill, Shakespeare's skill is to take what he has found around him in the dream, to fashion the ebbs and flows of his dream into his plays. Through the members of Shakespeare's family we gain an insight of how he lived his life in Stratford, and through Philip Henslowe, Ben Jonson and Aphra Behn, how his London playwriting life took off.
